Inspirer of Border Movie Dies!
Brigadier Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, the hero of the famous battle of Longewala, died today.
He was suffering from cancer and embraced death in Fortis Hospital in Mohali, Punjab.
Kuldip Singh Was major in Indian Army during the 1971 war. (This was the war in which India defeated Pakistan which led to the liberation of Bangladesh.

A band of only 20 Indian soldiers in Longewala region heroically defends their post all night (December 4-5) until they receive assistance from the Indian Air Force the next morning. On the morning they received backup from the Indian Airforce who sent some fighter aircraft, which did not have night vision capabilities (and so was the delay), to the battle in order to assist those Indian soldiers.
